Azymos
Greek for unleavened bread specifically — the marked word where artos is the open one. It is the Septuagint’s term for the bread of the Days of Unleavened Bread, and Luke knew it and used it elsewhere (Luke 22:1; Acts 12:3) — which is what makes his reaching for artos at Emmaus worth noticing. Synonyms: azyma, unleavened, unleavened bread. See also: Artos
