Canaan

The land of Kena’an and the peoples who dwelt there before Israel; a Canaanite is one of them — as in the Gentile woman whose faith Jesus commends (Matthew 15:21–28). A different name and root from Cana, the Galilean village — the resemblance is only in sound.
