Most Holy Place
The innermost chamber of the tabernacle, behind the veil, holding the ark and the mercy seat — entered by the high priest only once a year, on Atonement. At the cross the veil was torn top to bottom (Matthew 27:51); Hebrews names that veil Christ’s flesh and the opening “a new and living way” into God’s presence (Hebrews 10:19-20). Synonyms: Holy of Holies, behind the veil, paroketh, katapetasma.
